Movability’s role as a transportation management association (TMA) means we focus on helping downtown Austin keep moving, but that doesn’t mean people from outside Austin – sometimes very far outside – aren’t interested. A delegation from a Japanese organization, Policy Research Institute for Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism, recently met with Movability while in Austin.
While Japan’s urban areas see far less car use and much heavier transit use than U.S. cities do, the group was interested in learning more about what TMAs, and Movability in particular, offer to employers and cities. They also discussed ridesharing, carpooling, and transportation network companies – like Uber and Lyft – with Movability staff.
As the world’s cities become more congested, we predict that information sharing will become more and more prevalent. We at Movability look forward to learning from other transportation leaders in cities worldwide!
