Holiday Shopping: Tips for Keeping it Local, and Keeping your Sanity

gcrta-santaIf the thought of holiday shopping fills you with dread, we can help!

Instead of slogging through traffic and circling endlessly for parking spots, try taking transit – you’ll be able to skip the traffic headaches, and you’ll be supporting local businesses!

Try Capital Metro’s 801 MetroRapid route for a South Congress adventure! SoCo is packed with local shops and restaurants, so you’ll have plenty to choose from within a short distance of the SoCo station stop. From jewelry at Kendra Scott to boots at Allen’s Boots or the perfect bibliophile gift at South Congress Books, there’s a lot to choose from. Not to mention all the restaurants and watering holes where you can put your feet up after a day of shopping.

Alternatively, you can take the 803 MetroRapid route to Burnet Road for another great smorgasbord of unique, local shops and restaurants: A Town, Top Drawer Thrift, Uptown Modern and more are all on lower Burnet Road.

And of course, don’t forget Downtown. The 2nd Street District’s Small Business Saturday on Nov. 26 is a great time to shop locally, and there are plenty of ways to get around, from bus to B-Cycle.
