The Joy of Two Wheels and the Ease of Electric

Movability’s Executive Director Glenn Gadbois chatted with a young attorney the other day bicycling down Congress on an electric bike. “I love it. I get exercise and I don’t show up the office sweaty.” Then off he shot.Screen shot 2016-02-03 at 1.14.12 PM

Scooting on two wheels to work or around downtown is an appealing option, especially when the heat kicks in, and it’s an option that just got much cheaper. Austin Energy is offering a $50 to $300 rebate on the purchase of an electric two-wheeler (bikes, scooters, and mopeds all count). All the details and rebate application are here.

Two wheeling Downtown ATX is becoming very friendly. The City is building more and more separated lanes on key corridors, but even on busy streets like Congress Ave., drivers are learning to watch out for all of the people on bikes. When car traffic gets heavy (which happens at all times, from morning, to lunch, to evening) bikes can be the fastest way to get around, and parking is free and easy..30
