Did you hear the buzz? Austin just celebrated its second annual Mobility Week, and it was well embraced by Austinites! Hopefully you were among those having commute adventures (if so, you can still tweet your pictures and stories to @movability).
Employees throughout the Austin region participated in Mobility Week by trying out new mobility options and just maybe falling in love with their commutes. During Nov. 2-6, commuters could try the “daily special” and see how they liked transit, teleworking, ride sharing, flex schedules, biking and walking. The Mobility Challenge team also partnered with local organizations to offer special discounts, ranging from B-Cycle passes to Carma carpool credit to bike safety classes.
Employers joined in the fun, too:
Silicon Labs hosted a “Mobility Mixer” to help employees connect with commute services and discounts.
NetSpend hosted Transit to Lunch – taking the MetroRail up to the Crestview Station for a tasty lunch (and maybe a craft beer!).
HNTB and NetSpend discovered they were neighbors in the same building, and hosted a joint #LoveMyRide happy hour to celebrate the week and match carpool buddies.
We’ll have even more info in the 2015 Mobility Week report that will be published in the coming months. In the meantime, you can take a look at more pictures and stories tagged #LoveMyRide.
