ACL Festival Is Coming – Are You Ready?

Screen shot 2015-09-28 at 2.16.22 PMAustin City Limits Festival will take place October 2-4 and October 9-11. If you’re a festival-goer, that means lots of fun music – and whether or not you’re ACL-bound, it also means lots of not-so-fun traffic.

Whether you’re headed to ACL or you’re a regular commuter who just wants to get to work already, it pays to plan ahead.

For commuters, the next two Fridays (October 2 and 9) would be great days to ditch the car and try alternative transportation (or even work from home!). That way you’ll avoid the gridlock, the hassle of street closures, and all the stress that comes with sitting in traffic. Plan a route now with the option that works best for you – the bus, train, carpooling, bicycling, or even a combination. Our toolkit can help you get started.

Festival attendees tend to be pretty savvy when it comes to taking advantage of options, and there will plenty for them to choose from during both weekends of ACL. There’s no parking at the festival, but here are some options that are even better:

  • Austin B-Cycle will be in on the action again this year, with a B-Cycle valet at the Zilker Park station and special $15 weekend passes available.
  • Bike over on your own set of wheels – there is free, well-lit bicycle parking at each of the festival entrances. Just remember to bring your own lock!
  • Car2go will have some special drop zones set up for the festival. Watch for updates on Twitter.
  • Capital Metro is offering extended bus and train schedules.
  • ACL runs a free shuttle from Republic Square at the corner of 4th & Guadalupe, which you can also combine with other options!
