Health Bit: Walk Your Way To A Longer Life!

Screen shot 2015-02-02 at 1.00.17 PMHow are those New Year’s Resolutions going? Are you hitting the gym every day? Maybe you can start small – with a walk to the bus stop!

A recent study shows that just 20 minutes of brisk walking daily can reduce the risk of premature death by 30 percent. For many Austinites, 20 minutes is about how long you might walk to and from a transit stop each day (or maybe some days, you’re running!).

Walking or bicycling to work also counts. Having your commute as your exercise is the easiest way to do it because the exercise has a purpose – getting you to work – and you already have that daily routine down. See you on the streets!
