TNC Update: Council Approval – And Kittens!

Screen shot 2014-11-03 at 1.49.50 PMGood news for tech-savvy travelers: The pink moustache is almost legal!

On October 16, Transportation Network Companies (TNCs) like Uber and Lyft took a step closer to legality in Austin. The City Council passed a resolution to implement temporary regulations allowing TNCs to operate. These regulations will be in place until the City’s TNC stakeholder group brings forward a more permanent regulatory framework.

As soon as agreements with the City are signed, TNCs will officially hit the streets!

In the meantime, Uber set about winning over hearts and minds on National Cat Day, October 29. Kittens from the Austin Humane Society hitched a ride to visit Uber customers for playtime across the city. Is this a glimpse of a future Commuter Cat? Tabby, better grab your smart phone and stay up with the competition!

Technology continues to change the way we travel. As TNCs become legal in Austin, we look forward to more mobility options – and more kittens – for Austin residents.
