Health Bit: Long Commutes Are Bad For Your Body

It may seem intuitive, but now the research bears it out: the longer your commute, the less you move your body, and that is bad news for your health.

A study done in Texas recently shows that long commutes negatively affect your waist size, cholesterol and blood pressure. So if you can, live close to work. But if that’s not possible, put some physical activity in your commute.

Transit riders walk more than those that drive alone. Bicyclists get great exercise daily. Ever if you just bike or take transit two days per week you’re still getting more exercise that if you were just driving alone. Give it a try!
