St. David’s Welcomes Bike Commuters to Downtown

StDavids_BikesGood news for downtown bike commuters who have been hankering for a safe place to park your bike and take a shower: St. David’s Episcopal Church at 301 E. 8th Street now has secure bike storage and shower facilities for downtown commuters!

Movability Staff helped church staff to rethink underutilized space and develop a use that offers secure outdoor bike lockers or easy indoor bike wall hangers, as well as on-site showers and lockers.

“It’s great for the environment, it gets more cars off the road, and it encourages good health,” says Lisa Kay, director of special events for St. David’s. “When you’re a downtown church, you need to be a good downtown neighbor.”

Bike commuters who want to take advantage have a few choices:

Indoor Parking:
Indoor Bike Rack: $20/month
Access: Mon./Thurs./Fri. – 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sun./Tues./Wed. – 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Sat. – 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Excluding church holidays.

Outdoor Parking:
Outdoor Bike Locker: $40/month
Exclusive Use of Locker
Access: 24 hours/day, 7 days/week

Showers:

If you lease an outdoor bike locker or indoor bike rack, you will be able to show your membership card to access the showers. The showers are located next to the indoor bike racks, and towels are available for $1 each. St. David’s currently has one shower each in the men’s and women’s bathrooms, with plans to add more if there is a high demand for bike storage and shower facilities. Showers are available to bike commuters any time the building is open, with the exception of Tuesday mornings until noon.

Space is limited, so reserve your spot now! To learn more or to reserve, contact bicycles@stdave.org or 512-610-3500.
