VIVA [Play in the] STREETS

VIVA streets map

Run, play, walk and roll for this year’s VIVA STREETS  on Sunday, May 19 from 12pm to 5pm, as 6th Street closes to traffic from Brazos Street to Robert Martinez Jr. Street!

Q: What do I DO at VIVA STREETS?

A: You can do just about anything! Get creative and BE ACTIVE!

  •  Play in the street
  • Enjoy bicycling without worrying about cars
  • Do yoga, hula hoop or jog
  • Stroll a family-friendly Sixth Street
  • Bring bikes, skates, strollers, skateboards
  • Dance to live music
  • Be well; eat healthy
  • Or, TRY SOMETHING NEW!

Here is a recap of what folks enjoyed at last year’s event:

And this is what some people are looking forward to doing at this year’s event:

While everyone is welcome to celebrate the open street as they’d like at this car free, smoke free event, there will be a lot of fun activities scheduled throughout the day in addition to social rides and musical events where you can meet up with others to enjoy this special day.

Bring the kids and let them inspire you to get back on that bike! The Neighborhood Connectivity Division is hosting a bike rodeo from 1:30-3:00. A Bike Rodeo gives kids of all ages a chance to test their biking skills on a course designed just for them. Once you and your kids can safely ride around the neighborhood, nothing will be stopping you from riding to work! There will also be a table at the corner of 6th and IH-35 for participants to pick up bike maps, slap anklets, and spoke cards while supplies last.

How will YOU be celebrating VIVA Streets? Tell us what you’re looking forward to and share your photos and stories with us here, Facebook or Twitter @Movability
