The Austin City Limits Festival is just around the corner, bringing thousands of people to downtown Austin (October 12-14). Things are bound to get messy as masses flock to Zilker Park for the annual three-day event. Times like these are great opportunities to beat the hassle and leave your car at home. As always, festival traffic promises to be bumper to bumper, with road closures, scarce parking, and hiked up fees.
To simplify travel, Capital Metro will be running a FREE shuttle service from Republic Square [4th & Guadalupe St.] with drop off at Barton Springs Road. Shuttles will be running daily starting at 10AM.
Biking is optimal for cutting through the getting-to-the-grounds gridlock, that’s why ACL is teaming up with Mellow Johnny’s to feature pop-up stations for fix-ups, locks, lights, tubes, and any other last minute gear and advice you might need at both festival entrance gates along with ample bike racks [ACL Site Map].
If you do decide to use your car, it’s best to load up your friends and make the most of it by carpooling since there will be limited off-site parking at the festival (One Texas Center & Palmer Events Center).
